Booking us for Performances & Presentations
If you are an event organiser interested in booking us for a performance~installation, or looking to work with us on developing ideas, then the following notes should help give you an idea of what our approach is for 2012 and the table of elements we have available for mixing-up your event chemistry. From a single device installed as a sideshow at a summer fete or local event to our entire collection programmed into a Festival Arena we have a flexible repertoire to suit various budgets and scenarios.
The two key features of what we bring to the audience are: 1. Interactivity - Anyone can make music. It's all about having a go... who wouldn't delight in letting off a propane fired bass cannon ? 2. Engaging - It's very accessible. We've been welcomed across Britain from Henley to Barrow by people of all ages and backgrounds.
Keeping it simple, booking us is a 3-step sequence ~
1. First of all, choose your Devices....
Solo A single, stand-alone attraction such as the world's first electrical musical instrument The Galvonium would be perfect for any science or technology event, indoors or outside. Whilst Tonefloat continues to delight and entertain the festival crowds.... Baboom ? An iconic-looking, flame spouting, metal-monkey music-machine made for making merry under a midsummer moon. An Ensemble How about a trio of Fire-Organs ? ! Fluxweed, Baboom and the BassCannon. Or a Dubstep-ready combo of DrumMachine, BassCannon & The Galvonium ? Add a lyrical wordsmith and you've got the wierdest urban sound going. Pick and Mix a number of devices; they can be installed in seperate locations at different times, or play together as an ensemble. Or a bit of both. The logistics here are whatever can be transported in a 3.5tonne Luton Van we can bring as a 'medium-scale' Ensemble.
The full 'Orchestra' For 2012 we are looking to work with a couple of festival organisers to present our entire collection with The Semi-Automatic Bandstand in it's full glory. Building on the success of last Summer's touring, and bringing new elements to the work, the Bandstand will be show-ready again for the summer.
2. Next up, add Extra Jam or Spice to suit...
Education ~ Workshops We spend much of our time in a proper workshop where we "Get Excited & Make Things" , and we're also fully paid-up members of the burgeoning digital craft movement, so why not talk to us about bringing our skills and resources to the table or marquee. From a simple show and tell desktop demonstration unit to running a fully functioning Maker studio, we can cover a wide range of topics, media, materials and ability levels - tailoring tuition and hands-on projects to suit the participants, be they key-stage pupils, curious adults or professional developers.
Event Production Most of our devices are battery powered and mobile, therefore suitable for installation and presentation in unusual locations. We'd be happy to assist with additional technical or logistic support you may need to bring ideas to fruition, either from our own company or in co-operation with some of our many allies in the world of event production.
Programming & Creative On a creative tip we're also up for adapting work or devising new elements in response to the event theme or brief. For Example - Tonefloat was blinged up for a Bollywood Wedding at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park; A giant frog-leg adorned gazeebo has housed The Galvonium in Scotland, whilst The Bandstand is available for presenting a range of supporting acts and entertainments - steampunk cabaret, alt.noise improv or a turn from English Heretics ? Where do you wanna take it ?
